For the following project I was asked to create a magazine design based on the theme of Arts and Culture. I chose to create a burlesque themed magazine called AURA consisting of 4 article designs as well as a front cover. I had an aim of creating a fun and vibrant magazine design, so I chose to experiment with an array of different mediums including watercolour paints, black Indian ink, tissue paper, fine liner and acrylic paints. By incorporating so many different materials into this process, as well as using Photoshop to refine my magazine layout, I was able to create a variety of bold and stylish mixed media artworks and illustrations to portray burlesque culture in a contemporary and stylish way.
